How a Couch-Made Demo Became Cloonee's Next Hellbent Release

Some records are carefully planned. “Perfecta Ocasion” wasn't one of them.

The idea came together while De Ramirez was relaxing on his couch after discovering a vocal sample that immediately sparked inspiration. Instead of forcing the creative process, he let instinct take over. Drawing from the accordion-driven sound of Colombian Vallenato, the Spanish cumbias he grew up hearing from his mother, and modern Latin tech house, he built a record that felt vibrant, playful, and full of personality. The result was a club-ready track that combined folk-inspired melodies, brass stabs, and infectious grooves without losing its dancefloor energy.

The first real test happened almost immediately. He played the track during one of his DJ sets that same weekend, and the crowd erupted. Confident that the record had something special, he sent it out for promo. Soon after, Cloonee downloaded the track. Just before Miami Music Week, De Ramirez posted an Instagram Reel asking fans around the world to send him videos if Cloonee happened to play it during the week. The clips started pouring in. Show after show, Cloonee continued supporting the unreleased record for months before eventually reaching out himself to ask if it was still available. It was one of those moments De Ramirez had imagined countless times. What if Cloonee played it? What if he liked it? What if he wanted to sign it? Eventually, every one of those questions became reality.

That experience reinforced the biggest lesson he took from producing “Perfecta Ocasion”. Sometimes the hardest part isn't adding more layers or endlessly tweaking a mix. It's trusting your instincts. By choosing the right sounds, committing to the original idea, and resisting the urge to overthink, he created a record that feels both polished and effortless. At its heart, the song also carries a deeper message. While its Latin grooves make it perfect for parties, the lyrics revolve around finding the right moment to let go of a toxic relationship, heal, and move forward.

His own journey into electronic music began after attending Hard Haunted while studying at USC. Watching a DJ control the energy of an entire crowd completely changed his perspective on music. That experience eventually led him to pause university and enroll in a music production school in Los Angeles, where producing quickly became an obsession. Although artists like Deadmau5, Above & Beyond, Laidback Luke, and Afrojack shaped his electronic influences, much of his musical identity comes from Daddy Yankee, classic reggaeton, and the Latin music he grew up hearing at home. Together, those influences define a sound he describes as vibrant, playful, and unmistakably Latin.

Outside the studio, De Ramirez has a civil engineering degree, has performed at Dodger Stadium, and still has a deep love for baseball after growing up playing the sport. One of his favorite festival memories remains watching Dada Life drop “Kick Out the Epic Motherfker” at sunrise during EDC Las Vegas 2011, a moment that reminded him why he fell in love with dance music. More recently, a spontaneous trip to Amsterdam Dance Event led him to enter a demo competition with no expectations. He unexpectedly finished third, but more importantly, left with friendships and industry connections that continue to shape his career today.

Looking ahead, De Ramirez is preparing for Haus of Bloom in Bakersfield, continuing collaborations with artists from around the world, and sitting on a collection of unreleased music waiting for the right moment. Through every step of that journey, one philosophy has remained constant: trust the process. Rejections, unanswered demos, and "not for us" emails have all been part of the story. As he sees it, believing "I can" and "I will" matters far more than worrying about how or when success arrives. “Perfecta Ocasion” is proof that consistency, intuition, and patience can eventually turn a simple idea created on a couch into one of the biggest moments of a producer's career.
