DMVU Announces Lap Dog, New EP Via Memory Palace
August 19th, 2026 – Bass music innovator DMVU announces his new EP, Lap Dog, arriving August 21st via Memory Palace. The project marks another evolution in the producer’s continually shifting approach to bass music, bringing together the experimental sound design, heavy low-end, and genre-fluid production that have become central to his work.
Following the August 7th release of “Telidescope,” DMVU’s collaboration with Herbalistek, Lap Dog expands the rollout into a broader look at where the producer is creatively in 2026. While “Telidescope” offered a one-off collision between two distinct bass music perspectives, the new EP is firmly rooted in DMVU’s artistic world - showcasing the range that has defined his project throughout his career.

Across Lap Dog, DMVU continues to operate outside the traditional boundaries of electronic music. His productions have consistently drawn from experimental bass, hip-hop, and left-field sound design, but his work has never been defined by a single genre or formula. Instead, each release reflects an ongoing interest in experimentation, texture, pressure, and finding new ways to manipulate sound.
The EP also continues DMVU’s relationship with Memory Palace, the artist-driven bass label founded by Of The Trees. Since its launch, Memory Palace has developed a reputation as a home for concept-driven releases, creative freedom, and intentional world-building. Recent projects from Of The Trees x Tape B’s “Brackish” and Mindset’s ‘Vanity’ EP, have helped continue to establish the imprint as one of bass music’s most forward-thinking creative hubs, championing artists who push beyond traditional genre boundaries.

For DMVU, Lap Dog is less about fitting into a particular category than continuing to build a body of work on his own terms - reinforcing an approach that has kept his project unpredictable while maintaining a distinct sonic identity.
The EP follows “Telidescope,” DMVU’s collaboration with Herbalistek, which introduced listeners to the latest phase of his creative output ahead of the full project’s arrival.

About DMVU:

Better known by his musical alias DMVU, Denver based producer Matthew Phillpot-Jones continues to etch his own indelible mark into the future of electronic music. From a young age, Jones’ always displayed an unmistakable inclination towards music. An only child of two musically gifted parents, Jones grew up in an environment in which he was constantly exposed to a diverse selection of music, and quickly learned to play the piano and drums very early on in his adolescent years. Infatuated by the hip hop culture of the late 90s and early 2000s, Jones traded in the drumsticks for a copy of FL Studio, hoping to test his hand at emulating the beats that were so instrumental during his teenage years. Citing unmistakable influence derived from the rich underground dance music scene native to Colorado, Jones soon graduated from hip-hop and redirected his artistic focus on producing bass music – a critical turning point in his ascent that ended up proving to be pivotal in the project’s life cycle.
