Police Find Large Stash of Drugs Buried Under Creamfields Ahead of Festival

Police searching the grounds of Creamfields have uncovered a large stash of drugs buried across the festival site in Daresbury, Cheshire, just days before gates open.

According to Cheshire Constabulary, specialist officers discovered a sizeable quantity of Class A, B and C drugs during the first week of pre-event searches. The haul included large bags containing ecstasy, MDMA and ketamine tablets, along with approximately 204 canisters of nitrous oxide.

Police believe some of the drugs had been deliberately hidden at the site well in advance, with people planning to return and recover them once the festival was underway. Superintendent Andy Blizard said officers deal with people attempting to conceal or bury drugs at the site “months in advance” and confirmed that searches will continue before the event opens.

Authorities also delivered a pointed message to whoever left the stash behind, saying anyone who buried a rucksack or holdall and wants it back is welcome to contact police. Officers have already begun enquiries aimed at identifying the owners of the seized items.

Up to 80,000 people are expected to attend Creamfields in Daresbury this week. The festival officially runs from August 27 through August 30 and is celebrating 20 years at its Daresbury home, with a lineup featuring names including Calvin Harris, Martin Garrix, Swedish House Mafia, Tiësto, Disclosure, Carl Cox, Fisher and Eric Prydz.

Police say the discovery is unlikely to be the last. Specialist teams will continue searching the grounds in the days leading up to Creamfields, while officers will also work alongside festival organizers and security throughout the weekend.
