Martin Garrix Reveals He Suffers From Tinnitus, Urges Fans to Protect Their Hearing
Following Alesso’s recent revelation about his struggles with tinnitus, Martin Garrix has now shared that he, too, suffers from the condition. In a recent interview, Garrix described experiencing a “nonstop beep”, comparing it to having “10 mosquitos” buzzing around his ear. To cope, he prefers to have background music playing at all times.
The Dutch DJ admitted that many of his fellow DJs also deal with similar hearing issues, largely due to years of exposure to high-volume music without protection. He specifically pointed to his early DJing days and long studio sessions as the main causes. To manage the problem, Garrix now uses a DB meter that flashes lights when the volume reaches unsafe levels.
Both Garrix and Alesso have urged fans and fellow artists to always wear earplugs at shows to prevent long-term damage. Tinnitus is a growing concern among musicians and festival-goers, and taking precautions now can help preserve hearing for the future.
