Marc Antonix Reconnects With the Feeling That Started It All on “Nostalgia”

“Nostalgia” began with Marc Antonix trying to recover a feeling he already knew well. Before the club shows, unreleased IDs and upcoming collaborations, there was the melodic electronic music that first made him want to become a producer. Released October 2 via Create Music Group, the new single looks back at that feeling without trying to recreate the past, instead reshaping it through a current melodic house sound built around euphoric energy and emotional weight.

The inspiration comes from the way certain memories can instantly pull someone back to a person, place, summer or specific period of life. That same idea guided the production. The goal was to make the track feel large enough for a festival while still giving the melodies and atmosphere enough space to breathe. He describes his sound as emotional, euphoric and ambient, and “Nostalgia” sits directly at the intersection of those three qualities.

That connection to melodic dance music stretches back to his teenage years. He started DJing and producing while still in high school, becoming serious enough about electronic music that some of his first records were signed before he had even graduated. Zedd, Avicii, Alesso and Audien became major influences along the way, with Zedd’s A Moment of Clarity leaving a particularly strong impression and helping push him toward pursuing electronic music more seriously.

The years that followed gave him opportunities to experience his own music in real rooms. Sets at Avalon, Exchange LA and Academy LA, along with chances to support artists he had looked up to, helped shape the way he thinks about live performance. Rather than treating a set as a sequence of tracks, he prefers to build it as a journey, moving between emotional records and higher-energy moments while mixing in his own music, edits and unreleased IDs. Seeing someone in the crowd react to one of those original records remains one of the most rewarding parts of playing live.

That same sense of scale is why Tomorrowland and EDC Las Vegas remain high on his list of dream festivals. Both represent the energy and community that initially drew him deeper into dance music, but the connection matters as much as the size. For him, the goal is still to create records that can work in a large setting without losing the feeling that made them meaningful in the first place.

“Nostalgia” also arrives at the beginning of a wider run of new music. More unreleased material, collaborations and projects are already taking shape, and he sees this single as the start of what comes next rather than a look backward for its own sake. Whether someone has followed the project for years or is discovering it through this release, he says there is much more on the way.

At its core, the track returns to the same reason he fell in love with electronic music in the first place: the ability of a song to attach itself to a memory. He hopes listeners hear “Nostalgia” and immediately think about something from their own lives, whether that is a person, a festival, a summer or a moment they would experience again if they could. As he puts it, “Trends change and sounds evolve, but emotion is timeless. If a record can create a memory for someone, that’s what matters most to me.”
