Evan Giia Talks Seattle Paddle Rave, Motherhood and What’s Next
Following her appearance at Seattle Paddle Rave, Evan Giia sat down with us to reflect on performing for a floating crowd, explain why she moved from traditional live sets into DJing, and open up about how motherhood has changed her approach to work. She also shared what’s ahead, including the Pretty Bangers Tour, new music for her upcoming sets, and writing inspired by her experiences with motherhood and postpartum life.
Giia recently became a mother and, at the time of the interview, was four months postpartum.
She said she is still learning what it means to return to work while also being a mom.
“I’m still learning what it means to come back to work and be a mom,” she said.
When asked about the biggest change motherhood has brought to her life as an artist, Giia pointed to a new sense of clarity.
“I think the biggest thing that I’ve taken so far is just a sense of clarity,” she explained.
She said the choices she makes now feel sharper, clearer and more concise because her priorities have changed.
“There’s no time to dilly dally between decision making,” Giia said. “It’s just like yes, no.”
For her, that ability to make decisions more clearly has been one of the positive changes that came with becoming a mother.
“My baby’s given me that, which is really nice.”
The Pretty Bangers Tour Is Coming This Fall
When asked what comes next, Giia immediately pointed to her upcoming Pretty Bangers Tour.
“I have a tour coming up, the Pretty Bangers Tour, this fall,” she said.
The tour will be her first time returning to the road since having her baby.
“It’ll be my first tour back from the baby,” Giia said.
She also described it as an opportunity to bring the Giia Gang back together again after a long break from doing a full Evan Giia tour.
“It’s been about three years since we’ve done a proper Evan Giia tour,” she explained.
The upcoming run will visit nine cities, and Giia said that preparing for those shows is currently one of her main focuses.
“I’m focused on that, and I’m focused on making some new music for those sets.”
New Music Inspired by Motherhood and Postpartum
Giia was also asked whether fans could expect any new collaborations.
For now, she said there are no collaborations coming up.
“I don’t have any collaborations coming up yet,” she said.
She explained that having a baby has naturally kept her closer to home and made it harder to travel to Los Angeles for writing sessions.
“Having a baby, you’re pretty insular. You’re at home,” she said. “I’m not able to, like, get to LA for my sessions.”
Instead, Giia plans to focus her writing on what she has personally experienced through motherhood and postpartum life.
“I’m gonna be writing my honest and true thoughts about how motherhood and postpartum has gone,” she said.
She believes those experiences could turn into new music.
“I think it’s gonna turn into some really good music, so I can’t wait.”
“You’ll Never Know If You Don’t Try”
Toward the end of the interview, Giia was asked what advice she would want to leave with the world.
Her answer reflected one of the mottos she tries to follow herself.
“You’ll never know if you don’t try,” she said.
Giia explained that she is often willing to put herself out there and try things without knowing whether they will work.
“I’m always kind of going out on a limb and trying things and putting myself out there shamelessly,” she said.
She added that she no longer worries as much about filtering those decisions.
“I just want to, like, see if it’ll work.”
And if something does not work, she does not see that as a reason not to try.
“There’s no shame if it doesn’t,” Giia said. “But you wouldn’t know if you don’t try.”
“That’s kind of one of my biggest mottos.”
Who Should Play Paddle Rave Next?

Giia was also asked which artist she would like to see perform at Paddle Rave next season.
She described the event as having a fun, beachy and positive atmosphere.
“It’s very, like, fun, like beachy, like positive vibes,” she said.
Her pick for a future Paddle Rave appearance was jigitz
“I feel like jigitz,” she said, adding that he is “one of my favs right now.”
From the unpredictable experience of performing on a floating raft to preparing for her first tour since becoming a mother, Giia is now focused on the Pretty Bangers Tour, creating new music for those sets and writing about her own experiences with motherhood and postpartum life.
