How a Flight to Peru Inspired Eddie Marks US' “Que Tal”

While flying to Peru to visit his wife's family, Eddie Marks US opened his laptop and started building a new idea. Throughout the flight, his wife kept looking over his shoulder, smiling, and asking, "¿Qué tal?" Curious about what he was creating, that simple question eventually became the title and spirit of the track. Inspired by their playful relationship, "Que Tal" became Eddie's musical version of flirting with the person who inspires him most.

Built around confident grooves and playful energy, the record explores a different side of Eddie's production style. Although best known for producing Drum and Bass, "Que Tal" marks only his third house release. Rather than abandoning his roots, he brought some of the same production instincts into the project while experimenting with a randomized delay effect that gives the record extra movement and personality. The result is a house track that feels lighthearted, rhythmic, and effortlessly fun.

Eddie's journey through electronic music spans nearly three decades. He began DJing clubs and radio shows almost 30 years ago, producing club remixes before releasing original music on vinyl throughout the late '90s and early 2000s. After stepping away from music to focus on marriage and raising a family, he returned in 2024 with a renewed creative vision, blending Drum and Bass with R&B melodies and the emotional structure of early trance. Along the way, he has shared stages with artists including Tiësto, Sasha & Digweed, Nelly, The Pharcyde, Micky Finn, and Keoki, experiences that remain some of the defining moments of his career.

Outside the studio, travel plays just as important a role as music. Whether discovering new cities, meeting new people, or finding another place to salsa dance with his wife, those experiences continue to influence the emotions behind his productions. At home, he is also the proud father of three children, and says watching them dance to his music is still the most rewarding review he could ever receive.

With more releases scheduled throughout the year and additional live performances on the horizon, Eddie Marks US continues exploring new directions while staying true to himself. That's exactly how he describes his sound. "True to me." With "Que Tal," his goal is simple: make people smile, move, and maybe flirt with the moment a little.
