Eric Prydz Unleashes Holosphere 2.0, A New Era of Immersive Live Tech
Eric Prydz has redefined the limits of live electronic performance once again. After years deconstructing the relationship between music and technology, the launch of Holosphere 2.0 marks a turning point — not just in his career, but in what’s technically possible in a show format.
Developed over six years by a team based in Los Angeles, the latest version of Holosphere is described as a “digital sculpture,” not just a stage production. Custom-built from scratch, the experience blends 360º-filmed physical elements — think crystal orbs, plasma balls, burning glass — with laser-mapped, holographic visuals designed to wrap the viewer in multiple layers of light and sound.
At the center of everything: a transparent LED sphere that encloses Prydz during the set. This upgraded dome delivers a massive leap in pixel resolution, color depth, and dimensional layering, pushing beyond the boundaries set by the original Holosphere. The scale of this 2.0 version isn’t just aesthetic — it’s strategic. The full arena-sized version currently in construction will stand 33 feet tall, even larger than the 26-foot version used in his UNVRS Ibiza residency.
The Billboard feature that recently spotlighted the build reveals that Prydz and his team are gearing up for a global tour, with the full Holosphere setup being optimized for arena venues. This opens a new chapter for the project, allowing it to reach audiences far beyond the summer residency in Spain.
Beyond the tech, Prydz is also revisiting his legacy. During a recent stop on the 20 Years of Pryda tour at The Concourse Project in Austin, Texas, he dropped a track no one expected — “Call on Me”, for the first time in 20 years. Blending it live with the original Steve Winwood’s “Valerie”, the moment served as a nostalgic callback for longtime fans, made even more striking coming from an artist known for avoiding that part of his catalog.
With Holosphere 2.0, Eric Prydz is looking both forward and back — expanding the visual frontier of live shows while briefly honoring a moment that helped launch him into the spotlight. Few artists manage to do both with this level of precision and scale.
