Did You Know Many Festival Stage Decorations Are Actually Inflatable? Meet Deco Dudes
When you look at a massive festival stage, your eyes probably go straight to the LEDs, lasers, and pyrotechnics. But what about the giant mushrooms, floating creatures, oversized sculptures, and towering decorative elements surrounding the stage?
Believe it or not, many of those iconic festival installations are inflatable.

Behind the scenes, companies like Deco Dudes are responsible for designing and building many of the textile structures that help transform an empty field into an unforgettable festival experience. From giant stage decorations to floating butterflies and immersive art installations, every piece starts as fabric before being engineered to inflate, withstand the elements, and come to life in just a matter of minutes.

Ironically, Deco Dudes didn't begin in the festival industry at all. The Dutch company grew out of a family sailmaking business with decades of experience working with technical fabrics. During the COVID pandemic, when sailmaking projects slowed down, the team began experimenting with large-scale inflatable creations. What started as a creative side project quickly evolved into one of Europe's most recognizable festival décor studios.
Today, their work can be found across some of Europe's biggest events. They've created inflatable mainstage elements for Intents Festival and Radio 538 King's Day, giant mushrooms for Wildeburg, inflatable lampshades for Into The Woods, and even a massive butterfly that appeared to fly above the crowd at Gardens of Babylon using a custom DMX-controlled winch system.

What festivalgoers rarely see is the engineering behind every installation. These structures aren't just designed to look impressive. They must withstand changing weather conditions, meet strict fire safety standards, remain lightweight enough for transport, and be installed within tight production schedules before thousands of attendees walk through the gates.
It's the kind of work that often goes unnoticed once the music starts. Yet these installations help create the atmosphere that people remember long after the festival ends.
For Deco Dudes, the mission has never been to simply decorate a stage. It's about transforming empty spaces into experiences that become part of the memories fans take home.
