In 2012, during the 54th Annual Grammy Awards, deadmau5 appeared on the red carpet wearing his signature mau5head along with a black t-shirt that featured Skrillex’s real phone number and the phrase “u mad bro?”.

As images from the event began circulating online, Skrillex’s phone was quickly flooded with calls and messages from the public.

Despite the situation, Skrillex handled it calmly and later changed his phone number due to the volume of incoming contact.

At the same ceremony, Skrillex won three Grammy Awards, marking a major milestone in his career and in the growing recognition of electronic music within mainstream industry spaces.

The moment also carries an additional layer of irony, as deadmau5 had previously released “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” through mau5trap, contributing to Skrillex’s early rise.
