Spotify Meets ChatGPT: A Conversational Revolution in Music Discovery
Spotify is taking music discovery to a new level with its integration into ChatGPT. Now available in 145 countries, users can link their Spotify accounts to ChatGPT and unlock a conversational way to explore tracks, build playlists, and uncover new favorites.
The feature, rolling out across web and mobile platforms (iOS, Android), allows free users access to curated playlists (like Discover Weekly), while Premium subscribers can generate custom playlists via prompts — for example, “Spotify, I need something upbeat for a workout” instantly yields a tailored set.
Spotify reassures users: no music or podcast content will be used by OpenAI for model training. The integration is optional and can be disconnected at any time. This move positions Spotify to compete more aggressively with Apple Music, Amazon Music, and YouTube Music by blending AI and streaming.

Also supporting the initiative is Universal Music Group, seeing the collaboration as a way to help fans connect with artists in fresh, engaging ways while supporting a monetized ecosystem.

As of Q1 2025, Spotify boasts 678 million monthly active users (Premium + free), with 268 million Premium users alone — a 12% year-over-year increase.
This integration marks a shift toward more conversational, intuitive music discovery. When inspiration strikes, the next song is just a chat away.
