Spotify has announced a landmark collaboration with the industry’s biggest players—Universal Music Group, Sony Music Group, and Warner Music Group—alongside key partners like Merlin and Believe to co-develop generative AI tools built around one mission: put artists first.

This initiative aims to reshape the way music is created, distributed and experienced in the era of artificial intelligence. At its core, the collaboration anchors its strategy in four guiding principles: direct licensing, artist choice, fair compensation, and enhanced artistry. According to Spotify’s announcement, the goal is not only tech innovation but also preserving the creative power of artists. “Musicians’ rights matter. Copyright is essential,” the company stated.
