We picked Roger Raw’s brain from the studio sessions for ‘Motive’ and here is what he had to share,

“Basically, we were trying to make something unique by fusing a hybrid sound of future bounce and stutter house then sprinkling it with elements of electro house. We started to write a chord progression to the vocal and kept coming up with new ideas.

Then, once we nailed the main hook line, we adopted it into the drop to finish it with as much energy as possible and to keep the swing going. You might not be able to hear it, but there’s a lot of layers going on in the drop. Then, we added some of the atmospheric layers in terms of adding more depth or character to the tune. The song was made with a couple of different plugins, including a mini brute, Virus TI, Sylenth, Serum, Razor, and Omnisphere.”
