Orlando’s City Council just gave the green light to a massive $400-million renovation of Camping World Stadium, the very venue that hosts EDC Orlando. This isn’t just a facelift — the upgrade is deep: they’re removing the old bench seats, rebuilding the north and south bowls into a fully symmetrical structure, and upgrading the exterior with a metallic, hurricane-resistant shell.One of the most exciting pieces? A retractable stage pocket inside the south seating bowl, specifically designed to host large-scale live music events — a clear nod to future EDM or concert uses.
When the renovation wraps up — expected by December 2027 — the stadium’s capacity will increase by about 2,000 seats, pushing it past 65,000 for big event days. The timeline is strategic: it aligns with the Jacksonville Jaguars’ planned temporary move to Orlando, and they’ll need a modern, high-capacity stadium in place.
The project will be fully funded through Orange County’s tourist development tax (commonly known as the “bed tax”), meaning the money comes from hotel stays and short-term lodging — not directly from local taxpayers. campingworldstadium.com Design-wise, the plan is to merge iconic architectural aesthetics with modern safety and event flexibility.
