Mike Galvin Translates Inspiration Into Organic House With “Shadows”

Irish-born, Toronto-based producer and physician Mike Galvin has unveiled his latest track, “Shadows”, released on August 21, 2025. The single embraces the sound of organic house, blending atmospheric textures with natural drum elements and airy synths designed to evoke the warmth and serenity of autumn landscapes.

Inspired by a road trip in Portugal, Galvin recalls driving through a country road in late autumn, where trees formed an amber canopy over the pavement, light spilling through branches and casting long shadows across the path. That memory became the foundation of Shadows, which he brought to life through organic-sounding percussion, delicate string swells, and evolving synth pads to mirror the sensation of wind moving through trees.

The track was mixed at Matte Black Records studio in Toronto, where Galvin worked with Julien Leggat, who provided mentorship and support throughout the process. The result is a contemplative yet uplifting journey that merges pastoral inspiration with deep electronic sound design.

Before diving into electronic music, Mike Galvin played in indie and rock bands, but his creative direction shifted as he discovered electronic sounds during university. Initially producing casually on SoundCloud, his turning point came when Irish director Ais Brady asked him to score her award-winning short film The Silence Between. That project gave him the confidence to pursue production more seriously.

Galvin cites Jon Hopkins as his biggest influence, praising his ability to fuse classical composition with club-ready techno. It’s a balance Galvin himself strives for in tracks he describes as dreamy, atmospheric, and contemplative. While still early in his live journey, his dream is to play Sónar Festival in Barcelona, particularly Off Sónar at Poble Espanyol, inspired by a Maceo Plex set he once attended there.

“Outside of music, Galvin is a strong supporter of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), having worked on humanitarian missions overseas with the organization, while balancing his passion for music.

With Shadows, Mike Galvin delivers a track that channels both serenity and optimism, inviting listeners to experience a moment of calm reflection while moving to its organic groove. This release is part of a steady stream of music leading toward his debut album planned for 2026.
