Mersiv Bridges the Gap Between Emo Roots and Heavy Bass in New Album 'NOSTALGIA'

Mersiv is heading back to the rocks, and he’s bringing a new era of "Pretty Dark Loud" with him. On October 23rd, Anderson Gallegos will self-release his latest full-length album, NOSTALGIA, via Create. The timing couldn't be more intentional: the 13-track record arrives the same day he takes the stage as the headliner at Red Rocks Amphitheatre for the fourth consecutive year.

While his 2025 album 444 felt like a deep, internal exploration, NOSTALGIA shifts focus outward to the sounds that originally shaped Gallegos. Long before he was a fixture on festival mainstages, he was immersed in the worlds of emo, alternative, and heavy rock. This new body of work serves as a bridge between those foundational influences and the heavy bass music that defines his current career.

    A Journey Through Alt-Rock Roots

The album opens with "Vision," a track that utilizes a spoken-word Timothée Chalamet quote to usher listeners into a melodic dubstep atmosphere. From there, Mersiv wastes no time pulling in high-profile collaborators. "Falling In" features Seth David and the ethereal vocals of Vera Kay, while "Collide" sees him team up with HVDES for a haunting, atmospheric departure from his standard high-octane energy.

Energy remains a focal point throughout the tracklist. "Pieces," featuring Seezyn, pushes the BPM with a fast-paced hook designed for club play. Fans who have been following the album's rollout will recognize "Kickback," the lead single that debuted in August. The release of "Kickback" was paired with a unique scavenger hunt where fans in five major markets could find vinyl copies containing unreleased demos of the album's upcoming singles.

One of the most anticipated moments on the record is "Threat," a heavy-hitter that has become a staple in Mersiv's live sets over the summer. The album concludes with his official remix of Superheaven’s alt-rock anthem "Youngest Daughter," a track that arguably serves as the thesis statement for the record's alternative DNA.

From The Caverns to Red Rocks

The release of NOSTALGIA marks the climax of an incredibly busy year for the Denver-based producer. Between his phone-free "NIGHT VISION" tour and major appearances at North Coast, Elements, and Bass Canyon, Gallegos has maintained a relentless presence on the road. He also recently launched his own curated event, MorFlow Fest, in Clearwater, Florida.

Before the Red Rocks performance, local Colorado fans will get an exclusive first listen during a private listening party and meet-and-greet at a secret location in Boulder on October 21st. The official album tour is expected to be announced for 2027, but Mersiv will close out 2026 with a string of massive dates alongside Tape B and Jaenga, including stops at The Armory in Minneapolis and WAMU Theater in Seattle.
