Interview: Norwegian Pop Star Julie Bergan on her Euronites Project

With her latest release ‘Dance All Night’, Norwegian pop sensation Julie Bergan invites listeners to lose themselves in the mesmerizing pulse of dance floor freedom. The track plays a vital role on her EURONITES project that spans generations and reminds us that the art of euro dance is in a new era.

“An unequivocal club anthem through and through, ‘Dance All Night’ plays a key part in telling the EURONITES tale, with classic themes of embodying freedom, energy, and uninhibited joy tightly built in,” Bergan explains. “The core message is clear: ‘Dance All Night’ is about letting go. Highlighting ideals that sometimes the best moments happen when you live in the moment, unfiltered.”

The creative journey leading to EURONITES began in February 2024 with ‘Kiss Me Better’, a significant milestone in Bergan’s career as she stepped into the roles of producer and music video director for the first time. The track, co-produced with Jesper Borgen and Albin Clern, has already amassed over 6.3 million views, setting the stage for what would become a transformative year for the artist.

In our exclusive interview, Bergan opens up about creative control, finding freedom in production, and how the dance floor serves as the perfect metaphor for mindfulness in motion.

Taking charge of producing ‘Kiss Me Better’, did you find the experience thrilling, or were there moments of apprehension as well?

I actually found it very thrilling. I’ve always loved being super hands on with the production, but it felt very liberating just being recognized as a producer in the process and creating exactly what was on my mind! I’ve always been very inspired by the different synths and sounds from the early 2000’s, and it was so much fun making my own more modern version of that. 

When working on your tracks, do you picture the live audience?

Always! A lot of the time that is my biggest motivation and inspiration in the studio. That feeling I get when I’m on stage and just feel like a part of a big community enjoying the music and energy together. There’s nothing like it. 

‘Dance All Night’ exudes a joyful vibe. Is there a particular memory that sparked that atmosphere?

I think the dance floor is a nice metaphor, but also actually a place where an alternative type of mindfulness can take place. It’s easier to be present in yourself when it’s dark and warm and packed with loud music and energy! And I just thought of those times where I’ve been able to let go of everything for just a few hours, close my eyes and just enjoy. 

Having collaborated with notable figures such as Alan Walker, how do you ensure your partnerships retain a fresh feel?

For me the most important part is that it feels genuine and that I absolutely love the song. I think when doing a collaboration it’s important that both parties feel ownership to the song, and for that to happen we all need to be happy with it for it to feel fresh I think. 

 

After extensive touring, are there any memorable moments from performances that have stayed with you?

Soooo many to be honest. It’s hard to choose! But I’m really grateful I’ve got to experience touring in Asia (China, India, Japan etc..). The fan culture there is just very different from Europe, and there’s just so many amazing people that are so dedicated both inside and outside the venue. 

What’s next for you in 2025?

I will continue my yes-year and eurodance era writing music and of course perform it! I’ve also just had my first gigs as a DJ, which is very exciting. I love learning something new, so hopefully I’ll get a lot better at that in 2025 too!
