A Scheduling Conflict Inspires TATE SEDAR’s Post-EDM Remix of Disco Lines’ ‘Cutting Loose’

What began with TATE SEDAR and Disco Lines crossing paths during soundcheck at Academy LA in 2021 has evolved into a record that captures the essence of that encounter and many other DJ-to-DJ interactions. The track, ‘Cutting Loose’, is aptly titled, as TATE SEDAR had to ‘cut loose,’ meeting up with his friends before then performing his own closing set, which led him to miss Disco Lines’ opening set.

Keeping an ear on Disco Lines’ releases, TATE’s inspiration flowed naturally when he heard Thad’s collaboration with J.Worra and Anabel Englund. With techno at the core for his remix, TATE SEDAR embraces an era of sound called ‘post-EDM’. Enjoy the dichotomy of bittersweet acoustic-pop and contemporary techno, which creates a satisfying array of sounds that are easy to absorb.

So, what is ‘post-EDM’?

post-EDM (n): a progressive style of electronic dance music that draws from sounds of the EDM era (2010-2020) and prior while using analog & digital instrumentation.

TATE SEDAR’s notable accomplishments include his performance at the 2020 Insomniac Discovery Project: EDC Virtual Rave-a-Thon and earning a spot on the Insomniac Events Artist roster. He has also collaborated with renowned figures in the industry, such as Dada Life, Don Diablo, Cash Cash, Borgeous, Breathe Carolina, Wolfgang Gartner, and Disco Lines. TATE’s keen sense for meaningful storytelling through sound will continue to guide him to new moments and inspire more music.
