Second US Sphere Officially Moves Forward in Maryland Following $1.4 Billion Project Approval
The East Coast is getting its own Sphere! Prince George’s County officials have approved a major financing package for a $1.4 billion immersive entertainment venue at National Harbor, just outside Washington, D.C. The new location will become the second Sphere in the United States, following the iconic Las Vegas venue.
The new Sphere will feature 6,000 seats, offering a smaller, more intimate version of the Las Vegas experience. Plans include a massive 16K-by-16K LED screen, immersive sound technology, vibrating seats, and 4D environmental effects designed to take live entertainment to another level.
On October 27, county officials approved up to $215 million in bonds to support the development. Located near MGM National Harbor, the venue is expected to generate approximately $63 million in annual tax revenue, with an opening currently targeted for early 2030.
