Martron Explores Motivation, Momentum & Creative Possibility On New EP “Drive”
Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles-based producer, multi-instrumentalist, and classically trained musician Martron returns with his new seven-track EP Drive, out October 27. Recently earning critical attention from UKF, Roland, and GQ, and featured in Apple’s “Shot on iPhone” campaign, Martron now steps into a more energetic, fun, heavier, and darker side of his sound while exploring the questions that come after self-discovery: What motivates you? What pushes you to get better? And what are you capable of?
The EP moves fluidly between UK garage, melodic bass, dubstep, progressive bass, and techno, balancing heavy low-end and club-ready energy with intricate melodic details and unexpected instrumental textures.
Opening the EP, “Bang!” immediately establishes its heavier foundation with bass-heavy UK garage rhythms and an infectious, driving energy. “Save You” follows with melodic bass elements and glitched-out flute harmonies, balancing its weight with intricate melodic details and atmospheric textures.

Martron pushes further into experimentation on “IMA” beginning with glitchy dubstep before transforming midway through the track into a progressive blend of bass and techno, eventually folding dubstep rhythms back into the mix. The result is one of the EP’s most dynamic moments, showcasing his ability to move between genres without sacrificing cohesion.
Previously released single “Hit The Road,” featuring the EP’s sole collaborator Tauklo brings an indie-electronic edge to the project. Built around infectious melodies and a drum & bass-driven groove, the track is about taking risks, pressing the gas, and moving forward regardless of the obstacles in your way. The collaboration also carries a personal history, with Martron and Tauklo having worked together for more than a decade. Martron has produced numerous records for Tauklo, making “Hit The Road” only their second officially released collaboration under both of their names.

The melodic bass anthem “There For You” shifts the energy toward something warmer and more emotionally resonant, before “Pushin” picks the pace back up with a frenetic combination of UK garage, bass, and increasingly restless tempos. Closing the project, “DIP” serves as the focus track of Drive, bringing together UK garage rhythms and roaring bass for one of the EP’s heaviest moments. Its relentless energy provides a fitting conclusion to a project built around pushing boundaries, testing capabilities, and seeing how far Martron can take his sound.
The creation of Drive marked a different process for Martron than his previous projects. Unsure of where to go after his previous EP, Passion, he ultimately chose to stop overthinking the direction and lean into the elements of his artistry that felt the most exciting in the moment. Over the course of roughly three months, the EP came together quickly and organically, allowing him to experiment with the more energetic and darker sides of his production while maintaining a sharper sense of cohesion than his earlier work.
