MARCHELLO Turns Toronto Dancefloor Instincts Into “BABY”
Released via EDM Army Records, “BABY” brings MARCHELLO’s experience behind the decks into a groove-driven Tech House track built for the dance floor. After spending time watching how crowds react to different rhythms, basslines and shifts in energy, the Toronto-based DJ and producer wanted to make something playful, confident and immediate.
The production keeps things focused around a driving bassline, tight drums and a memorable vocal. MARCHELLO handled the arrangement, sound design, mixing and mastering himself in FL Studio, paying particular attention to how the bass and percussion work together. That less-is-more approach comes directly from playing clubs, where he says simple ideas often create the biggest reactions.

MARCHELLO began DJing in 2023 and has since performed at Toronto venues including REBEL, DPRTMNT, Future and Lavelle. His gigs have also placed him on events featuring artists such as Dubdogz and Cat Dealers, including one night where he closed the party after Dubdogz.

His sound sits mainly around Tech House, with influences including Dom Dolla, John Summit and MAU P. He describes his own style as energetic, groovy and unpredictable, while continuing to experiment with melodic elements and other areas of electronic music.
That same mindset extends beyond the studio. For one recent project, MARCHELLO organized a crew of around 13 people, three cars, multiple GoPros and two drones to film a full DJ set while driving through Toronto. It reflects the philosophy behind the project: “Don’t wait for opportunities. Create them.” With more original music in the works, “BABY” offers a clear look at where MARCHELLO is heading next.
