After 13 Years, ARMNHMR Reintroduce Themselves With “Falling”

After 13 years of making music together, ARMNHMR are opening a new chapter with “Falling,” a collaboration with OAKS that reconnects the duo with the sound and feeling that first drew them into electronic music.

Released via Insomniac / Lost In Dreams, “Falling” serves as the first introduction to ARMNHMR’s upcoming album, Everything In Between, a project shaped by years of touring, experimentation and some of the most joyful, uncertain and difficult moments of their lives.

For the duo, there was little doubt about which track should introduce this next phase.

“Falling was our obvious choice as a first song to launch what is the next evolution because the sound is at the heart of what drew us into EDM music,” ARMNHMR told EDM Army. “We wanted to make a fun and carefree type of dance track that reminded us of simpler days.”

That feeling also reflects the broader direction behind Everything In Between. Rather than building the album around one specific genre or a rigid concept, ARMNHMR approached the project as a snapshot of who they are today.

The music has been developing alongside them for years. Different versions of several tracks have appeared throughout their live sets for nearly three years, giving the duo an opportunity to test ideas, reshape songs and allow the project to evolve naturally while touring.

Experimentation also became an important part of that process. During their first trip to Manila, a Q&A with fellow producers introduced them to a different perspective on spectral compression through Subtronics. That discovery eventually became something they experimented with in collaborations alongside YDG and Jessica Audiffred, adding another influence to their evolving production process.

But Everything In Between is also rooted in the experiences ARMNHMR have accumulated throughout more than a decade together.

One of those defining moments came during their first bus tour with Adventure Club, an experience the duo still remembers as a major milestone in their career.

“We woke up in a new city every night. Loaded into the venue in the morning and basically lived the traveling circus life with what would eventually be today’s heavy hitters,” they recalled.

That period also put them alongside artists who would go on to become major names within the electronic music scene. ARMNHMR remember Wooli, SVDDEN DEATH and other DJs heading to see Chris Lake at a small North Carolina bar in 2017, a memory that captures just how much the scene — and their own careers — have changed since then.

Their story together actually began in a much more unexpected way. Both members are named Joe, both are left-handed, and they originally met through “gloving,” the light-based performance art that became closely associated with electronic music festivals and rave culture.

Years later, that connection has developed into a project that has taken them around the world, but their philosophy toward creating music remains surprisingly simple. When asked about the idea that guides their work, ARMNHMR pointed to a quote from legendary producer Rick Rubin:

“All that matters is that you are making something you love, to the best of your ability, here and now.”

That mentality sits at the center of what ARMNHMR are doing today. Instead of treating their upcoming album as a definitive statement about what the duo should sound like, they are allowing it to represent where they are at this exact moment.

And for listeners discovering ARMNHMR for the first time, their message is just as straightforward:

“Welcome to the Family!!! Music gave us more than we deserve, so we’re happy that we can return the favor with ours.”

With “Falling” now officially out alongside OAKS, the first piece of Everything In Between is in place. After 13 years, ARMNHMR are not starting over — they are bringing everything they have experienced along with them while introducing the version of the project that exists today.
