Fred Dope on Bee Gees ‘Stayin Alive’ Proper House Rework and Direction [Free Download]

We all know the living room parties where we take turns digging for records to play on the record player (or pass the phone around), and where does the music always gravitate to?  The classics, something we can all sing and dance to.

For Fred Dope its songs like ‘Can’t Take Your Eyes Off of You’ by Frankie Valli and of course the Bee Gees ‘Stayin Alive’ that debuted in the 1977 film Saturday Night Fever, the latest classic the Milanese Producer and DJ reworked with his proper house vibes, out now on Italy’s DBMAFIA Recordings as a free download.

Fred Dope shares more about his project’s current direction,

“Right now what I like to do is blend classics from the past with modern dance sounds and influences, creating a journey that takes you back and forth between the past and the future, and I’m heavily influenced by the new tech house wave and generally the new electronic house music that is able to make old classics become bangers again. What I’m trying to do is continue to steer the wheel in this direction.”

His sound has brought him to play extended sets across Europe from Turks and Caicos to Malta at the legendary Medasia Playa where Pete Tong, Claptone and many others have taken over for a luxury-rave experience.

Fred Dope started his music career back in the early 2000s, when he was 13. By the time he was 18 he was playing in major clubs in Milan, working his way into an opening slot for Oliver Huntemann when he was playing more techno.

Now Fred is riding major success on his previous latin house release ‘Oi Oi’ with support from Bexxie and Dennis Cartier, classic remixes like ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You’, and his original ‘Feel The Rhythm’ boosted by fellow Milanese Producers, Merk & Kremont.

In our recent conversation, Fred Dope pointed to more Italian tastemakers worth checking out, sharing, “Marietto runs a very successful radio show and is supporting a lot of my music and Aurelios is a very young producer from Sicily with a bright career ahead.”
