TATE SEDAR Sends Out Progressive House Love with ‘Coming Home’

SF-born, LA-based producer TATE SEDAR brings his roots to the forefront in “Coming Home (I.M.U)” – a festival-ready banger fusing emotive female vocals with his signature ‘post-EDM’ style. The track blends classic EDM with electroacoustic elements, paying homage to his progressive house beginnings.

2023 marked SEDAR’s busiest year for shows yet, but left him questioning his artistic direction. Five years in LA’s diverse scene exposed him to both mainstream and underground electronic music, evolving beyond his “golden age EDM” origins.

The breakthrough came from unlikely influences – garage music and modern dancepop caught his ear while playing major Insomniac Events shows alongside heroes like Wolfgang Gartner, Deniz Koyu and Dubvision. A summer 2023 session sparked “Coming Home’s” initial progression, but something was missing.

Drawing inspiration from Mat Zo’s Illusion of Depth and his own musical journey through R&B, rock and hip-hop, SEDAR found his sound. He shot promo content in LA’s Angelino Heights – its Victorian architecture reminiscent of SF. As he puts it: “If anybody knows me well, they know I love San Francisco. And if you don’t – listen to my music.”

The track finally clicked with its third vocal take and added post-EDM elements – bells, piano, strings and mandolins. That massive 80s-style chord stab before the second build? Pure SF nostalgia. While ‘Emotions’ featuring PSCYHEDELIC tested post-EDM waters, ‘Coming Home’ defines SEDAR’s evolved style – progressive roots meet personal identity.

‘Coming Home (I.M.U)’ proves SEDAR isn’t just making bangers – he’s telling his story that is currently bookmarked at his NYE performance with R3HAB at Avalon Hollywood.
