Hundreds of Thousands of Peaceful Ravers Expected in Berlin for Rave The Planet Parade

Under the motto “LOVE IS STRONGER”, the “Rave The Planet Parade” will take place for the third time on
August 17, 2024, a major cultural-political demonstration committed to peace and the protection of electronic
music culture. This parade, in the tradition of the legendary Berlin Love Parade, brings together people from all
over the world to spread a message of community, solidarity and hope.

This year, the parade will once again take place on the eastern half of the “Straße des 17. Juni”. In 2022 and
2023, 300,000 people came together to dance for a better world. Techno and other styles of electronic music
were the common language for the rave community.

THE MESSAGE IN 2024: LOVE IS STRONGER

This year’s topic “LOVE IS STRONGER” could hardly be more fitting. It reminds us that love is a powerful and
universal force that not only easily overcomes negative emotions, but also national borders and peacefully unites
people of different origins, religions and cultures. Once again, Rave The Planet calls for peaceful, inclusive and
respectful interaction with each other and with the earth.

An impressive line-up of 30 floats including BamMobil, Docklands/Fusion, MAAYA, Symbiotikka and Verknipt
(NL) as well as various acts and DJs will make the now world-renowned parade an extraordinary and unforgettable happening. Among others, APHØTIC, Alle Farben, Bebetta, Cassy Raptor, Dr. Motte, Farrago,
Isabelle Beaucamp, Mark Dekoda, Westbam, Simina Grigoriu and Tube & Berger as well as 260 other
internationally renowned and up-and-coming artists from the scene will fill the parade with sound from various
music trucks, the so-called floats.

SUCCESS OF THE RAVE-THE-PLANET CAMPAIGN: TECHNO CULTURE AS UNESCO CULTURAL HERITAGE

A milestone for the Rave The Planet initiative was reached on March 13, 2024, when “Techno Culture in Berlin”
was added to the nationwide list of Intangible Cultural Heritage by the German UNESCO Commission. This
recognition underlines the cultural and social significance of Techno Culture far beyond the borders of Berlin.

The status of “Intangible Cultural Heritage” raises awareness that techno has long since stepped out of its niche and grown into an independent cultural form to be taken seriously.

ANTHEMS OF THE RAVE THE PLANET PARADE IN 2024 – TWO VERSIONS & ONE PASSION

For the first time in the young history of the parade, this year’s anthem offers not just one, but two rousing, official versions. The joint studio sessions of Westbam, Dr. Motte and Tom Wax formed the basis for two independent tracks, characterized by the personal style and vision of their creators. Both are united by their love of the electronic music scene and their clear message, as well as their namesake title: „Love is Stronger“!

POLITICAL DEMANDS OF RAVE THE PLANET

Since the founding of the non-profit organization rave the planet gGmbH in 2019 and the first Rave The Planet
Parade in 2022, the initiative has been campaigning for the following key political demands:

1. Legal clarification of assembly laws: dance and music demonstrations as assemblies under Article 8 of
the Basic Law.

2. Protection of techno culture as UNESCO cultural heritage: recognition of its cultural and social
achievements.

3. Equality with other forms of art and culture: Abolition of the separation between serious and popular
music.

4. Protection of clubs and venues: equality with established cultural venues.

5. Revision of noise protection and building regulations: Promotion of cultural urban development.

6. Abolition of legal dance bans: Respect and protect diversity.

7. Introduction of a public holiday for electronic music culture: second Saturday in July as a day of
remembrance.

8. Peace and disarmament: from interpersonal interaction to global measures.

COMMITMENT

The Rave The Planet Parade is a safe space, characterized by respect, community, self-expression and freedom.
Discrimination of any kind is not tolerated. The parade stands for zero tolerance towards intolerance and actively
opposes racism, sexism, ableism, queerphobia, religious and other forms of discrimination.

SUSTAINABILITY AND CLEAN-UP DAY AFTER THE PARADE

Special attention is also paid to environmental protection, both in terms of waste prevention and its disposal.
During the Rave The Planet Parade, targeted measures are already being taken to prevent and reduce waste.
Among other things, all stalls work with a deposit cup system, and even more waste containers are set up than
last year. The cooperation with “Pfandgeben”, a project of Sozialhelden e.V., was also further expanded this year.
There will be a total of 16 “deposit islands” (ger.: Pfandinseln) at the edge of the parade, where participants can
place their returnable bottles. The aim of this campaign is to reduce waste on the demonstration route and at the
same time support people who take deposits.

On the day after the parade, volunteers will carry out extensive clean-up activities to leave the “Großer
Tiergarten” clean and set an example for environmental awareness and sustainability in the scene and beyond.
For this reason, parade participants in particular are called upon to participate proactively and voluntarily on the
next day’s Clean-Up Day.
