GeminiTHNDR Talks New Single “Tracy” And His Journey In House Music

Canadian DJ and producer geminiTHNDR is back with a playful new release, Tracy (Radio Edit & Extended Mix), which dropped on August 16, 2025. The track blends deep house and tech house vibes with a unique backstory — inspired by an inside joke from his days working as a cook in a bar.

The original idea for Tracy came after a Twitch DJ stream, but it sat unfinished until geminiTHNDR rediscovered the project a few months ago. Everyone uses the same samples and regurgitated sounds, so I wanted to make something a little weird,” he explained. The result is a summer patio-style tune that he tested live at a beachside day party on release day. The track is also his first to feature his own vocals, adding a personal touch that fans can expect more of in the future.

Music has been central to geminiTHNDR’s life from a young age. He studied piano at the Canadian Royal Conservatory of Music, with early influences rooted in classic rock, blues, and jazz. His passion for electronic music ignited at Escapade Music Festival in 2016, where a set from Mark Knight opened his eyes to the energy of house music. By 2018, he was DJing in clubs, and during the pandemic, he dove into FL Studio to begin producing.

His sound draws from a range of influences, including Dr. Fresch, Chris Lake, and Chapter & Verse. Pre-Covid, he even launched his own mix series, THNDRstorm Radio, inspired by Dr. Fresch’s The Prescription, showcasing both local talent and international guests. Today, his productions balance groove, fun, and originality — evident in tracks like Tracy, where humor and house collide.

Live, geminiTHNDR thrives on energy and interaction. One of his most memorable sets took place at Patty Boland’s in Ottawa, where the packed crowd affirmed his drive to perform. Looking ahead, he dreams of one day playing festivals in Europe, as well as returning to Escapade for a homecoming performance. His next confirmed show is at Red Room in Montreal on November 7, where fans can expect new material and high-energy grooves.

Beyond music, he’s passionate about shuffling and cutting shapes, which he credits for helping him lose weight after high school. His eclectic taste currently leans toward mixing afro-inspired grooves with tech house, drawing influence from artists like Claptone, Kaleena Zanders, Deeper Purpose, and more.

When asked what message he hopes to send with Tracy, geminiTHNDR laughed: I hope people find it groovy, but also laugh at the drop mentioning chicken wings & french fries. It’s my silliest tune, but it has its own unique flavor and story.”

With more tracks on the way and a determination to grow with each release, geminiTHNDR’s journey is only just beginning.
