Burning Man Introduces Pay-What-You-Can Model for 2025 Tickets

Burning Man has announced a significant shift in its ticketing approach for 2025, introducing a pay-what-you-can pricing model aimed at making the event more financially accessible and culturally diverse. The decision follows a $20 million revenue shortfall in 2024 due to lower-than-expected attendance.

This year’s ticket tiers start at $550 for the early sale, with additional price points at $650, $750, $950, $1,500, and $3,000. Organizers encourage those who can afford it to purchase higher-tier tickets, helping to subsidize lower-priced options for other participants. According to Burning Man, the estimated cost per participant in 2023 was $749, meaning ticket sales at this level or higher fund operational costs, art grants, and financial aid programs.

“By choosing a higher-priced ticket, YOU are helping to bring more people to Black Rock City and supporting the participatory art, radical self-expression, and awe-inspiring experiences that define Burning Man,” organizers stated on their official website.

Additionally, ticket purchases at $1,500 and $3,000 will directly fund Burning Man’s Ticket Aid program, ensuring that attendees with limited financial means can still experience the event.

Burning Man 2025 will take place in Black Rock Desert, Nevada, from August 24 to September 1. Prospective attendees must register for the “Today Sale” by February 11 at 12PM PT, with ticket sales starting the following day on February 12 at 12PM PT.
