Man Arrested With Arsenal Of Drugs En Route To Burning Man 2025

Authorities in Nevada arrested a man traveling to Burning Man 2025 after discovering what police described as a substantial stockpile of illegal drugs inside his vehicle. The incident took place late Wednesday evening when Yerington Police stopped a cargo van with obstructed license plates.

During the 11 p.m. traffic stop, a police dog alerted officers to the presence of narcotics. A search of the van revealed an extensive cache of substances packaged for distribution. According to Acting Chief of Police Brandon Coombs, officers seized 104 grams of crack cocaine, 6.1 grams of methamphetamine, 9.0 grams of MDMA, 9.9 grams of DMT, 3.4 grams of 2CB, along with ecstasy, psilocybin mushrooms, LSD tabs, and a range of prescription pills including Oxycodone, Vicodin, Valium, and Xanax.

The driver, identified as David Haynes, 48, told police he was en route to Black Rock City for the annual week-long Burning Man gathering in the Black Rock Desert, an event that attracts tens of thousands for a celebration of music, art, and community.

Haynes now faces multiple charges, including manufacturing or attempting to manufacture a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to Lyon County Jail, where he is being held on a $248,000 bond.

The arrest highlights the heightened law enforcement efforts surrounding Burning Man 2025, as authorities prepare for the influx of attendees heading to one of the world’s most iconic cultural gatherings.
