Depeche Mode’s Concert Film ‘M’ Set for Worldwide Cinema & IMAX Release

After making waves at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, Depeche Mode’s highly anticipated concert film M is officially hitting cinemas around the world,  with limited screenings in theaters and IMAX starting October 28.

Directed by Fernando Frías, the project dives deeper than just the band’s electric live shows. It blends behind-the-scenes moments with a cultural lens, exploring the connection between death, legacy, and celebration in Mexican culture. “At its core, M is about the deep connection between music, culture, and people,” says frontman Dave Gahan. “Fernando did a beautiful job telling that story through the lens of Mexico City and our shows there.

The feature captures Depeche Mode’s three sold-out nights at the iconic Foro Sol Stadium in September 2023, part of their Momento Mori world tour — the first album cycle since the passing of co-founder Andy Fletcher in 2022. That loss, combined with the album’s themes, gives the film an emotional weight that longtime fans will definitely feel.

Tickets drop September 17, so if you’re a Depeche Mode diehard (or just a sucker for legendary live shows on the big screen), mark your calendar. Last year, the band also released the video for Before We Drown, directed by their longtime visual collaborator Anton Corbijn.
