Artist Spotlight: ETHER Reworks College Anthem ‘Jordan Belfort’ into Festival Material

Austin producer ETHER (Matt Hagan) has created a compelling new version of Wes Walker & Dyl’s ‘Jordan Belfort’, marking the track’s 10-year milestone with a remix that feels both familiar and completely fresh. Released worldwide on August 8 (808 Day) via True Form, the update transforms the 208-million-stream college anthem into modern festival material.

The story behind the remix reads like good timing meeting preparation. “While vacationing in Florida, a wave of nostalgia for the track hit,” ETHER explains. Months later in Austin, mutual friends introduced him to Dyl during a night out. After sharing his remix, ETHER woke to a straightforward text: “Let’s put it on Spotify.”

Premiered at ILLFest 2025‘s mainstage, the remix keeps those recognizable vocals while incorporating sound design influenced by producers like Tape B, Levity, CrankDat, and TVBOO. ETHER’s approach draws from his love of cinematic worlds—think DUNE and Blade Runner—creating something that balances nostalgia with forward-thinking bass music.

“This isn’t just a remix—it’s a bridge between generations,” ETHER notes. “We took a defining anthem and gave it production that works for today’s scene while respecting what made the original special.” The result connects past and present, offering something for both newcomers and those who lived through the original’s cultural moment.
