At the start of this album journey, before singles, “Can’t Remember Your Name,” “Tiny Human,” and “Didn’t Sign Up For This” were revealed in late winter and spring of 2024,Elohimenvisioned Power of Panic as a triumphant tale, celebrating the power to channel anxiety and panic into something greater. The plan was to pair this with a headline tour, leading to a pinnacle moment in her career. But this creative surge hit a wall when her old foes—anxiety, dissociation, and panic disorder—returned with a vengeance, struggles she has faced since she was young.
In a bid to cope, Elohim turned to Benzodiazepines, and soon, she found herself dependent. Her dream of overcoming these challenges started to unravel. She had to cancel her tour and began the difficult process of weaning off the medication, left with an almost finished album and a vision that seemed to be falling apart. At her lowest, she questioned everything, even whether to release the album.
Through her recovery, Elohim realized that the power of panic is very real, both in its destructive and transformative forms. This intense period forced her to face the raw, unfiltered truth of her message, not from the lofty place she had imagined, but from the gritty reality of her life.
Yet, Elohim can’t help but dream of a parallel world where she’s conquered these battles, back on stage, performing for thousands. She vows to never give up on that vision. For now, though, the reality is more complex, more fractured, but still beautiful. “Power of Panic” exists now, without the stage lights, and that has to be enough. Maybe tomorrow or the day after, that dream will spark back to life.
“This album’s true message is raw, brutally honest, and quite frankly not from the place I thought I would be, but from the place where I actually am.” – Elohim
