Willdabeast and Viskus Pull Together Galactic Bass for ‘Unobtainium’

Grand Alliance Music presents ‘Unobtainium’, a transcendent collaboration between brass-driven electronic duo Willdabeast and revered bass producer Viskus. The single materializes as the third harbinger from Willdabeast & Friends, a forthcoming album predicated on synergistic partnerships.

“The track evolved out of thin air,” says Nick Krauskoff, aka Viskus. “After sending Will a skeletal idea, we reshaped it through weeks of back-and-forth until it became something neither of us could have created alone.”

‘Unobtainium’ emerged from engineering parlance to designate materials possessing theoretically perfect yet physically unattainable properties. Willdabeast and Viskus have transposed this paradox into sonic architecture: a chimeric synthesis of deep bass, dubstep, drum & bass, jazz, dub, and fusion.

Science fiction has long trafficked in impossible materials: the room-temperature superconductor from James Cameron’s Avatar, vibranium from Marvel’s Black Panther, dilithium crystals powering the Enterprise in Star Trek, the spice melange enabling navigation in Dune, transparent aluminum from Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. Each substance represents humanity’s aspirational reach beyond current material constraints—precisely the ethos animating this collaboration.

Willdabeast—the Bellingham, Washington partnership of Will Glazier and Dan de Lisle—have cultivated recognition for their incendiary brass-augmented electronic performances, integrating live trumpet, trombone, and flute into bass music’s percussive infrastructure. Their discography spans Gravitas Recordings, Westwood Recordings, and collaborations with Michal Menert, GRiZ, and Defunk.

Viskus, operating from Oklahoma City, has proliferated through Circus Records, Wakaan, and Morflo, with partnerships including Xenotype, TYNAN, Ravenscoon, and Superfuture. Unobtainium inaugurates his presence on Grand Alliance Music.

In 2025, the duo first crossed paths creatively on ‘Fondue Forest’, a playful yet immersive cut that showcased their chemistry. With ‘Unobtainium’, they’ve raised the stakes, leaning deeper into symphonic brass and heavyweight bass to craft a track that feels both impossible and inevitable.
